Ukraine's military says it struck a major Russian gas processing complex and two military satellite communications sites in overnight attacks, claims that, if confirmed, would mark another long-range operation against strategic infrastructure deep inside Russia.
The Ukrainian General Staff said the Orenburg Gas Processing Plant, more than 1,200 kilometres from the front line, was hit along with satellite communications centres near Moscow and in the Vladimir region. Associated Press reported the claims and said they could not be independently verified at the time of publication.
The Orenburg complex is significant because Ukrainian officials describe it as one of the world's largest gas processing facilities and as linked to Russia's helium production. Ukraine has increasingly targeted energy, logistics and military-industrial sites as it develops longer-range strike capabilities.
