Philippine authorities have temporarily blocked the online gaming app Gorebox after a rare school shooting in Tacloban City killed three students and injured 20 others.

Associated Press reporting says two teenage students were arrested after the attack at San Jose National High School. Cybercrime officials said the block would allow authorities to assess whether the platform played any role in the actions of one suspect, who was described as an avid user.

That inquiry should be handled carefully. At this stage, officials are investigating possible influence; they have not established that the app caused the attack. AP also reports that investigators are examining bullying claims and how the firearms reached the students.

The case raises difficult questions for the Philippines: school security, juvenile justice, online content, firearm access and adult accountability. Those issues are connected, but none should be reduced to a single cause without evidence.
