Ukraine’s military says it struck the TANECO oil refinery in Russia’s Tatarstan region and the Tamanneftegaz oil terminal in the Krasnodar region in a new attack on fuel infrastructure.

The Ukrainian General Staff made the claim on 20 August, according to Reuters. It named the refinery and terminal but did not provide independently verifiable evidence of the extent of any damage, disruption to operations or impact on exports.

The report belongs within the wider economic and military contest over energy infrastructure, but the established facts remain narrow: Ukraine’s military says it carried out the strikes; the reported effects are unresolved. Russian authorities and operators have not provided an account that independently establishes damage, and imagery of the sites has not been verified.
