Former Wimbledon champion Markéta Vondroušová has been suspended for four years after refusing an out-of-competition anti-doping test, the International Tennis Integrity Agency said.
The ITIA said an independent tribunal found no compelling justification for the refusal and imposed a four-year sanction. The attempted test took place at Vondroušová’s home on 3 December 2025.
The agency said refusal to provide a sample carries the same starting sanction as a positive test, because anti-doping rules are designed to prevent players avoiding testing by refusing.
Vondroušová presented explanations involving stress, mental health and safety concerns. The tribunal considered those arguments and testimony from the doping control officer before issuing the suspension.
The ban runs until 21 June 2030. During the suspension, Vondroušová cannot play in, coach at or attend events sanctioned by the ITF, WTA, ATP, Grand Slams or national associations.
The full written decision has not yet been issued, and Vondroušová, the ITIA and the national anti-doping organisation have appeal rights to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
