BEIRUT - Two Israeli airstrikes hit the southern Lebanese village of Kfar Rumman early Monday, killing at least nine people and wounding 11, Lebanon's Health Ministry said. The dead included a child, two women and a paramedic, according to the ministry.

The ministry said one strike hit a building, killing eight people, while another hit a car and killed a paramedic linked to the Lebanese Islamic Risala Scout Association. Four children and two women were among those reported wounded.

The strikes came during a fresh escalation between Israel and Hezbollah. The latest deaths add to the pressure on communities in southern Lebanon, where the conflict's effects continue to be felt through repeated airstrikes, displacement and damage to civilian infrastructure.

The Associated Press also reported that Yemen's Iran-backed Houthi rebels claimed to have downed a Saudi reconnaissance aircraft. The claim could not be independently verified in the source report. The developments underline how several linked confrontations are continuing to shape the security environment across the region.

Lebanon's Health Ministry figures are preliminary and may change as rescue and identification work continues. Parrhesia News will update the report if authorities issue a revised toll or additional information about the victims.
